Our House

We live in a town house, in a very calm no-through road, where one can easily park, midway between the historical city centre and the golfe du Morbihan (roughly 15 mins on foot or 5 mins by car). A bakery, a butchery, a fishery and a convenience store are all within 5 minutes on foot.

We have a private garden: you can have meals outside, and use our Weber gas barbecue. Depending on the season and weather, you may get salads and herbs from our vegetable garden. It's also possible to have coffee and sunbath on the balcony.

The first floor comprises a roomy living room with a fireplace, a fully fitted kitchen, the parents bedroom with a large double bed, plus separated bathrooms. On the second floor, three bedrooms with single beds, and one bathroom and toilet.

Our homebook includes our favorite addresses for local specialities but also cheese, wine, macaroons, and places to go. Also, you're welcome to make use of my spices cupboard! If you can read french, we have many cooking books.

The house is equipped with a washing machine, a dryer, a dishwasher, an oven, a microwave, an automatic coffeemaker, TV with a selection of international channels, and a DVD player.

For younger kids, playmobils, kapla, other toys and games are available. Also at your disposal: bikes, a sailboard, wifi and a printer.

We are careful and respectful. You'll find a clean and welcoming house, prepared with great care, just like we'd do for friends.

It is very important for us to return the house we've been lended with attention. We're looking for a family with the same mindset.

The city of Vannes

Vannes is a city of 53.000 inhabitants, located deep within the Golfe du Morbihan, one of the most beautiful bays of the world. It's a dynamic city with many events and exhibitions throughout the year.

If you like ancient stonework, you'll enjoy the medieval city centre, its half-timbered houses, ramparts, cathedral, and museum of the Prehistoric Times. Vannes also has many restaurants, from the local bistro to the Michelin-starred venue.

You'll find my selection of the finest tables in our homebook, plus plenty of tourist information such as guides, maps, and magazines. The fish market takes place every morning, with plenty of choice for fresh fish and shellfish.

Twice a week, local producers come with fruits and vegetables, cheese, crêpes and delicatessen. Vannes also has many shops with typical french specialties such as bread, wine, cheese or pastries and candy.

The region

With many beaches to choose from, you'll enjoy our proximity with the sea when it comes to swims in the summer, and great breaths of fresh air the rest of the year.

If you enjoy walking, you can reach a coastal path circling the gulf from our house. Natural areas lovers will be able to discover the salt pans of Séné, its natural reserve and many birds.

Beyond the beautiful coastal scenery, there are many picturesque villages further inland, such as Rochefort en terre (recognized as the most beautiful village of France), the forest of Brocéliande, and the castle of Suscinio – one of Anne de Bretagne residences.

You can discover the gulf by sea on guided tours. If you prefer to explore on your own, there are numerous maritime connections and short ferry lines to discover the beauty of the islands at your own pace.

Here's a selection of links for you to explore the region further, and learn more about some of the activites that are available.

About us

We are a family of five. Patrick (55, physiotherapist), Fabienne (53, primary school teacher), Pierre (25), Hadrien (20), Alix (18). Our elder son now works in Paris, but sometimes travels with us. We love traveling, meeting other people and discovering new cultures, cities and countries.

Our car is a Fiat 500, which seats 4 people for short trips. We usually rent a larger and more comfortable vehicle when we go on longer trips. We can exchange our car if it suits you.

"This was our first home exchange and it turned out to be a great experience! We love Vannes - Beautiful town. Nice to walk or to bicycle. Fantastic with the bakery everyday and the fishery near home. Thank you for bringing out toys for our children! Very much appreciated! Thanks to all your family, it has been great to change home with you!"

"Britanny... love at first sight. Nature here is great, the water of Morbihan, the sun, the green of the grass and trees. We have appreciated so much your house and your neighbours. Thank very very much Fabienne, Patrick, and all the family for the opportunity that you have given to us to stay in your quiet warm house, and to visit and know this beautiful region."
